What I say every morning that makes my kids roll their eyes

Hi Reader,

My kids went back to school last week. 🙌 While my kids didn't want their frat house summer to end, it was time. IYKYK.

Every morning since my son started kindergarten, I've said the same thing on the way out the door: "Have fun, work hard, and be kind." After a few weeks of hearing me say it to her brother, my daughter started asking me to "say me the words" when I dropped her off at preschool.

They're older now, and they roll their eyes at me every single morning. I still say it anyway, because I want it to be burned in their brains forever. Not just for school - for the rest of their lives.

This Week’s Quick PR Tip: Keep Saying the One Thing You Want People to Remember

The message you repeat out loud, on purpose, past the point where you're tired of hearing yourself say it, is the one that actually shapes how people think about your organization. Not the campaign or the one great headline. The line you say in every board meeting, every pitch, every all-hands.

It won't always feel like it's landing. Your team might not repeat it back. Your board might nod without comment. That's not a sign to stop. Keep saying it - again and again and again.

Pick the one line that matters most right now, and see how many times you can say it this week - even if you said it last week too.

What's the phrase you keep repeating, hoping it sinks in?

Have a great week - and remember, have fun, work hard, and be kind!
Rhiannon

The team is happy, the moment passes, and the coverage sits on your press page where almost nobody who matters most ever finds it. The instinct is to chase the next media hit and get new people to discover you. Sure, that's a real win - it's just not the only one. This Week’s Quick PR Tip: Make Sure the...

Monday Morning PR Minute ⏱️ Your weekly dose of PR inspiration | Read time: 1 minute | Hi Reader, You have difficult news to share with your community or customers, and every instinct is telling you to wait and hope no one notices. I've had two client conversations this month around this same thing. One had bad news to share with the people they serve and kept rewriting the message until it barely said anything. For another client, we were pitching a feel-good story, but they wanted us to...

Monday Morning PR Minute ⏱️ Your weekly dose of PR inspiration | Read time: 1 minute | Hi Reader, When was the last time something new got added to your overstuffed workload - today, maybe? My guess is your first thought wasn't "what can I let drop" - it was "how do I squeeze this in too?" I'm working with two comms leads living this every day. Both run their entire marketing and communications department for large nonprofits, solo. One's so buried in day-to-day tasks and requests she can't...
